Larry Longtine
Building Owner, Wood Carver, Wood Turner

I grew up on a farm in Minnesota and worked with the family doing carpenter work.  I did not start woodcarving until I was about 38 years old.  I started carving because I wanted an old wooden duck decoy and didn't have the money to buy one.  A wide variety of subjects, from earrings to full size carousel animals have kept me busy for over thirty years.  I have also taught and judged woodcarving in nearby states and Canada.

Ruth Severson
Business Owner, Wood Carver and Wood Turner

My mother and grandmother enjoyed all kinds of crafts and got me hooked at an early age.  As I grew older I was curious about how you made all kinds of things.  I've been carving and turning wood for about 10 years now and am trying every technique I can learn.  All the guys and gals have been very helpful and encouraging.  (There are no nicer people than carvers and turners.)

If you are ever in the Fargo-Moorhead area, please stop in and say "Hi".  (I'm the one without a beard!)

Barry Kutzer
Artist-in-Residence

Barry Kutzer has been carving since 2000.  His carving repertoire contains everything from fire breathing dragons to jolly Santas.  His real love however, is human realistic busts and full figure carvings.  "Capturing the wide range of human expression is the true test of the sculptor of realistic subjects.  I am still learning how to do this."

Barry has won Best of Show awards at the Red River Valley Wood Carvers Show and the Lake Bronson International Wood Carving Festival.  In addition several Peoples' Choice and Carver's Choice honors have come his way.
